The Quillmaster permits use of small tools at any compound angle with Model J Heads. High speed and rigidity allow the use of small end mills. Any corner with a small radius can be finish milled to a degree of sharpness not possible by any other method. Rotational speed is increased by 50% by the Quillmaster to permit efficient use of small end mills.
The Spindle housing of the quillmaster may be adjusted to any postion between vertical and horizontal. In photo A for exsample the spindel housing is tilted enough to clear the inside walls of n impression. With j head or 2j set to any compound angle and with a down motion of the quill manually (or by feed ) any compound angled corner with any small radius is easly milled finished. No resetting of the workpiece is required to attain this result. consequently, the Quill master saves, and in many cases, practically eliminates setup time.
A right angle attachment for the quillmaster, the QRA can operate in a confined space or hole only 2" in diameter( without tools it fits in a 1 3/4 hole), and can operate effectively with in 1/2" of the wall of the work piece. QRA operates with equal ease on the inside or the outside of irregularly shaped pieces or castings. QRA is a self-contained unit, featuring permanently lubricated bearings and gear housing.
