When turning long shafts of small diameter and when boring or threading spindles it ususally is necessary to support the work in a steady rest. Where the lathe is not equipped with this accessory one can be made easily from small pieces of standard cold rolled stock. ONly general dimensions are given as the rest must be sized for the swing of your lathe. The rest shown fits a 10" lathe with flat ways.
