I've had some questions on this edge finder, so I thought I would try to provide more details about this item that Fowler doesn't list in their catalog. First of all, the tip and the shaft (body) are a solid piece. The tip does not move/flex like other edge finders. Secondly, this item is not designed to be rotated in a chuck like other edge finders. It is meant to be installed in the chuck, your project set up without turning your machine on, and then removed. And finally, both your chuck and your workpiece must be conductive in order for this item to work and "light up". If you are using it on a non-conductive material (wood, plastic, etc.), it is not going to work for you.
