* The Sargent-Welch DirecTorr pumps are direct drive version of the reliable Duo-Seal pumps with the addition of new and innovating materials for the construction of a quiet, clean neat contemporary approach. The stage mechanism employs the same principle: a rotating concentric rotor containing two vanes and mounted in series on a common shaft and driven through a direct coupling by the motor. The pump unit and motor are mounted in series on a common shaft and driven through a direct coupling by the motor. The pump unit and motor are mounted on opposite sides of a central die-cast aluminum plate. Both the oil case of the pump unit and the motor may be removed independently of the other.
* The DirecTorr pumps offer significant advances in design, performance and safety during operation. These models incorporate an air-cooled, oil-sealed rotary vane pump directly coupled to operate at motor speed.
* The DirecTorr is a second generation design of the Sargent-Welch direct drive line of vacuum pumps. The models feature two stage construction. The DirecTorr offers significant advantages to the original equipment manufacturers and severe duty applications in reliability and performance. An essential part of the design incorporates an oil pump for positive pressure oil lubrication. This permits the continuous operation of the pump in high pressure application (100 Torr) while still maintaining the capability of .6 micron blankoff.
* The positive pressure oil lubrication insures that generous amounts of oil will be supplied to all moving parts to cool or reduce friction. The oil pressure also provides the means of establishing the anti-suckback of oil and atmospheric inrush. The mechanical design of the DirecTorr provides durable, wear-resistant group of materials which are finely machined to provide the optimum mating clearances for proper lubrication and vacuum sealing.
* The new finned oil case is designed to provide effective heat dissipation and functional advantages in most applications. The aluminum alloy oil case with a total surface area of 420 square inches is more than 3 times larger than the heat dissipating and noise absorbing area of past designs. This means a cooler, quieter running pump that is consistent in performance.
* The new oil case permits a variety of mounting alternatives since it is totally serviceable from the front and side. Oil fill, oil drain, oil level and vented exhaust are conveniently located for periodic maintenance.
