Analyzer has its own internal bus and controlled by microcomputer, advanced operational data processing
features, 16K of user RAM to store trace data, and instrument states. HP 8566B spectrum analyzer
has found wide usage on bench and automatic test equipment use.
HP 8566A has extendable frequency range from 100 Hz to 325 GHz. The Frequency stability of the HP8566A
makes 10 Hz resolution bandwidths possible.
Narrow resolution bandwidth to -135 dBm. This used test instrument has excellent frequency sensitivity, and
stability. Capable of very accurate measurement of small signals.
This system has four tunable display markers to aid in measuring and analyzing signals.
HP 8566A set the benchmark and is still considered to be one of the finest spectrum analyzers available.
Normally after I repair a unit I remove any left over stickers. This time I left them on to show this analyzer was originally the property of HP environment testing labs. This means the unit always top notch service. The unit was retired in 1998.
I just finished a calibration of the unit. The accurracy of my signal generator means spectrum analyzer now accurate to 2 dbm or better. This is why I will seal it with limited accurracy seals. If you need greater accuracy you will have to re-calibrate the unit yourself. I have included several CRT screen shots. The first is a full sweep from 2 GHZ to 12 GHz @ -10dbm,second is 100 MHZ calibration signal, third is a 18 GHZ @-10dbm . The diffence between peaks and valleys in full sweep is 4 dbm-within specs.
This is a nice working 22 GHZ analyzer with no faults found during a week of usage and testing. Only flaws are cosmetic in nature - missing left rear foot. The unit is sold with 14 day right of retun.
